• Life-form & habit: Perennial herb, green to slightly bristly with spreading hairs. Stems 50–120 cm, prostrate at the base, then ascending and branched.
• Leaves: Thin, ovate, somewhat pointed and heart-shaped at the base, with rounded teeth; reaching about 10 cm long.
• Inflorescence & flowers: Distinct whorls of 4–6 flowers form a branched inflorescence. The green, sparsely hairy, slightly sticky calyx has spine-tipped teeth shorter than its tube. Flowers are whitish-pink, with an enclosed corolla tube and broad lower lip.
• Phenology: Flowering March–June.
• Habitat & elevation: Hedges in moist Mediterranean habitats.
• Lebanese distribution: Saida, Nahr Aouali, Beirut, Pont du Pacha near Beirut, Antelias, Nahr el Kalb, Ras Chekka, Tripoli, Bhamdoun, Jamhour, Sir, Baskinta, Abey, Ain Zehalta, Ban, Kfertay and Bqaatouta.
