Life-form & habit: Perennial, pubescent or glabrous; root with napiform fibres.

Leaves: Outline lanceolate, pinnatisect with cartilaginous-dentate segments. Bracts variable: lower ones pinnatifid, upper ones entire.

Inflorescence & flowers: Calyx campanulate-cylindrical, membranous, with very short ovate-obtuse teeth, broader than long. Corolla whitish-yellow, 21–24 mm long; upper lip incurved, subretuse; lower lip with obtuse or retuse lobes, ciliolate or glabrous on the margin. Throat with two long parallel ridges. Two staminal filaments hairy.

Fruit: Capsule oblong, curved at the apex, longer than the calyx. Seeds numerous, reticulate.

Phenology: Flowers June–August.

Habitat & elevation: High-mountain meadows and slopes.

Lebanese distribution: Only recorded from Neba‘ Souccar above Sir (North Lebanon), single collection known.

Native range: Mountains of central and southern Europe, Russia, Siberia
