• Life-form & habit: Creeping or ascending perennial, 20 – 50 cm, pubescent.
• Leaves: Cordate-ovate, slightly obtuse, crenate, the lower long-petiolate, the floral ones smaller, very shortly petiolate, exceeding the calyces.
• Inflorescence & flowers: Pseudo-verticils with 6–8 flowers; the lower somewhat distant. Calyx hispid, with subulate teeth longer than half the tube. Corolla 15 – 30 mm, pale pink, striate with purple lines; tube straight, narrow, glabrous inside, dilated towards the throat; upper lip long, bifid; lateral lobes angular, slightly denticulate.
• Fruit: Nutlets triquetrous, smooth or slightly verruculose.
• Phenology: March – September.
• Habitat & elevation: Rocky or semi-wooded habitats, montane to subalpine regions, 1 200 – 2 500 m.
• Lebanese distribution: Mayrouba, Jezzine, Ghazir, Bchéla, Rayfoun, Qartaba, Khan Sannine, Cedars, Bcharré, Madaya, Hadeth, Dahr el-Baïdar, Laqlouq, Fenaidek, Ouadi Ibrissa, Mt Hermon.
• Native range: Albania, Bulgaria, Cyprus, East Aegean Is., Greece, Iran, Iraq, Italy, Kriti, Lebanon, Syria, North Caucasus, NW. Balkan Pen., Palestine, Transcaucasus, Türkey. (POWO)
• Conservation notes: Locally common but fragmented into montane stations. Threats include grazing, tourism impacts, and pine tree afforestation projects at 1 500 – 1 900 m overlapping its distribution zone.
• ⚠️ Taxonomic note: Treated by Mouterde under L. striatum Sibth. & Sm.; distinguished by its striate corolla and bifid upper lip.
