Helianthemum kotschyanum Boiss.

Life-form & habit: Small suffruticose perennial, 20–40 cm tall, entirely silky-hispid with somewhat appressed bristles; stems erect.

Leaves: Linear-lanceolate, acute, margins slightly convolute; stipules 3–4 times shorter than the leaves.

Inflorescence & flowers: Pedicels scarcely shorter than the calyx. Sepals strongly hispid; outer pair very short, inner ones prominently nerved, subacute at apex. Petals yellow, 2–3 times longer than sepals.

Fruit: Capsule included within the calyx.

Phenology: Flowers March–May.

Habitat & elevation: Vineyards, dry slopes, and fields.

Lebanese distribution: Ksara (Mt Lebanon, Beqaa), Zahlé, east of Joub Jannine.

Syrian distribution: Baalbeck, Anti-Lebanon (Ouadi el-Harir, Ouadi el-Qarn), Damascus (Ouadi Barada, Doummar), Aleppo region (‘Azaz, Jabal Sema‘ane).

Native range: Türkiye, Syria, Lebanon
