• Life-form & habit: Suffrutescent perennial, woody at base; annual stems 20–50 cm, cylindrical, fleshy.
• Leaves: Succulent, bipinnatisect into linear-lanceolate lobules, acute, slightly narrowed at base.
• Inflorescence & flowers: Umbel with 6–20 rays. Involucre and involucel of lanceolate, deflexed bracts. Flowers greenish-white; petals subrounded, entire, apex inflexed. Calyx absent.
• Fruit: Oblong, mericarps somewhat polygonal with fine but distinct ribs; pericarp thick, spongy.
• Phenology: Flowers June–October.
• Habitat & elevation: Rocky sea cliffs and littoral rocks.
• Lebanese distribution (Mouterde): Tyr, Saïda, Beirut, Jounieh, Batroun, Ras Chekka.
• Syrian distribution (Mouterde): Ras Bassit, Karadourane.
• Native range: Albania, Algeria, Azores, Baleares, Bulgaria, Canary Islands, Corse, Cyprus, East Aegean Islands, Egypt, France, Great Britain, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Crete (Kriti), Crimea, Lebanon–Syria, Libya, Madeira, Morocco, Netherlands, North Caucasus, Northwestern Balkan Peninsula, Palestine, Portugal, Romania, Sardinia, Sicily, Spain, Transcaucasus, Tunisia, Turkey, Turkey-in-Europe.
