Life-form & habit: Tufted perennial forming dense cespitose patches; stems glabrous or glabrescent, 5–10 cm tall.
Leaves: Glabrous, oblong-lanceolate, acute.
Inflorescence & flowers: Cymes with 1 to several flowers; pedicels elongate, glandular-pubescent, reflexed after fruiting.
Sepals: Oblong, obtuse, finely pubescent, with very narrow margins.
Petals: Obcordate, at least twice as long as the calyx.
Ovary & fruit: Ovary with 3 styles; capsule twice the length of the calyx, with 6 spreading teeth at maturity.
Phenology: Flowers from August to September.
Habitat & elevation: Near melting snowfields at high altitudes.
Lebanese distribution: Me. Around Qornet es-Saouda, the highest peak in Lebanon.
