Life-form & habit: Suffrutescent perennial covered in dense yellowish stellate-scale hairs; stems multiple, erect, little-branched, 20–80 cm tall.
Leaves: Basal and lower stem leaves oblong, entire, tapering into a petiole; upper leaves narrowly linear.
Inflorescence & flowers: Capitula globose, slightly more than 1 cm across, long-pedunculate.
Bracts: Involucral bracts and receptacle scales tomentose; lower ones muticous, upper ones briefly acuminate.
Flowers: Pale yellow to whitish-yellow.
Involucel: Quadrangular, short, hirsute; with 4 main lanceolate-ciliate teeth equal to the body of the involucel, and 4 intermediate teeth 3–4× shorter.
Phenology: Flowers from July to October.
Habitat & elevation: Montane rocky slopes.
Lebanese distribution: Mi. Deir-el-Qamar; Mm. above ‘Aïn Zehalta, Jabal Barouk; Ve. above ‘Aïnata, Yammouné; A.L. Taniyat-er-Ras; Me. Dahr-el-Khodib; Herm. Hammara, Aiha, Rachaya, Hermon.
Syrian distribution: A.L. Jabal ‘Aïn ‘Ansour, Bloudane, Madaya, Jabal Halimé, Jabal Abou ‘Ata; Herm. ‘Arné, Qala‘at Jendel, Hermon ridge.
Native range: Turkey, Syria, Lebanon
