Life-form & habit: Green annual with appressed, rough hairs; stems erect or prostrate, flexuous, 20–40 cm tall.
Leaves: Basal leaves obovate; cauline leaves linear, obtuse.
Inflorescence & flowers: Fruit-bearing cymes long and loose.
Corolla: Blue (rarely white), with a hairy tube not exceeding the calyx.
Fruit: Nutlets small, short, ovoid-acute, tuberculate with shallow pits and slightly hispid. Pedicels at fruiting stage thickened and obconic.
Phenology: Flowers from March to May.
Habitat & elevation: Bushy mountain habitats.
Lebanese distribution: Mi. Dhour Choueir, Qubbé near Hammana, Qrayé; Mm. Jabal Kneissé, Jabal Sannine, Tourza, Cedars, Source de Jouit, Hadeth, Neba‘ Succar; Ve. ‘Aïnata; Met. Zahlé region, Zellaya–Yohmor.
Syrian distribution: Mi. Chmaïssé; Slenfé; Nebi Younès; Sy. Homs; A.L. Jabal Ma‘loula, Qala‘at Jendel; Dam. W. of Kissoué, Dimas; J.D. Kafer, Tell Ahmar, Tell Jaoualil; St. S. of Qaryatein.
