Life-form & habit: Canescent, mat-forming perennial with slender, branched stems spreading along the ground, all or nearly all fertile, 5–10 cm long.
Leaves: Densely clustered at the stem base, oblong-deltoid, entire or bearing two blunt teeth on each side.
Inflorescence & flowers: Elongated, flexuous fruiting racemes. Pedicels filiform and long. Sepals pubescent, erect, 5 mm. Petals clawed, 10–12 mm long, violet.
Fruit: Ovoid-oblong silicle, inflated, with smooth valves, about 1 cm long, topped by a style nearly equaling the capsule in length.
Phenology: Flowers from April to July.
Habitat & elevation: Rocky habitats, especially at high elevation.
Lebanese distribution: Mi. Qrayé; Mm. Falougha, ‘Aïn Saoua‘ir, Mokhada near Laqlouq, Jabal Kneissé, Tannourine, Hasroun, Source de Jouit, Berkacha, forest of Ehden, above Ehden, Hadeth; Me. Jabal Sannine, upper Makmel; Met. Zahlé, Qabbélias.
Syrian distribution: A.L. Birket Foukhté, Ma‘loula, Yabroud, Souq Ouadi Barada.
Native range: Akher Dagh, Amanus, Lebanon, Anti-Lebanon
