Life-form & habit: Biennial herb, 50–80 cm tall, with a fusiform root and deeply furrowed hollow stems.
Leaves: Lower leaves pinnatisect with wedge-shaped, triangular, incised-lobed, and dentate segments.
Inflorescence & flowers: Terminal and lateral umbels without involucre or involucel, sessile or short-pedunculate. Petals cordate at base, entire. Flowers white.
Fruit: Paired, globular mericarps with 5 prominent filiform ribs.
Phenology: Flowers from May to August.
Habitat & elevation: Stream and canal margins, sometimes in slightly saline water.
Lebanese distribution: Ct. Tyr, Saïda, Tripoli; Met. Ouadi el-‘Arayech, Zahlé; St. Hermel; Mm. Sannine.
Syrian distribution: Ct. Lattaquié; Mi. Massiaf, Bhamra.
