Life-form & habit: Annual with striated stems, 60–80 cm tall, often somewhat swollen below the branches and divaricate.
Leaves: Thin, broadly ovate in outline, bipinnatisect; petioles long and woolly at base. Segments ovate-oblong, obtusely incised-dentate, glabrous except for a few hairs on the underside.
Inflorescence & flowers: Pedunculate umbels with 5–7 rays. Involucre absent or reduced to one bract. Involucel of 5 oblong, acuminate bractlets with woolly margins. Flowers white, with marginal petals radiating.
Fruit: Oblong, smooth, shiny, yellowish. Styles divergent, slightly longer than the stylopodium.
Phenology: Flowers from March to May.
Habitat & elevation: Woodland or partially shaded places.
Lebanese distribution: Mi. Ma‘asser, Machta, Jezzine, Rayfoun, Bzoummar; Mm. Jourd Hadeth, Ehden, Hadchit, Hasroun; Ve. above ‘Ammiq and ‘Aytanit; Hermon: above ‘Ain ‘Ata.
Syrian distribution: Mm. Slenfé; NLatt. Froulok, ‘Aïn Haramiyé; J.D. Qanaouat.
Native range: Cilicia, Amanus, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine
