Life-form & habit: Greyish, appressed-hirsute annual with often numerous, slightly thickened, branched, prostrate to ascending stems, 20–40 cm tall.
Leaves: Ovate in outline, petiolate, tripinnatisect into very small, crowded, oblong, acute lobules.
Inflorescence & flowers: Peduncles long and thickened at maturity. Capitula variable in size, 5–10 mm without ligules. Bracts ovate to orbicular, very obtuse, broadly scarious with brown-tinted, shiny and somewhat lacerate margins. Receptacle hemispherical. Paleae lanceolate, keeled, and gradually tapering to a point slightly shorter than the disc. Marginal flowers with white, elliptic ligules equaling or slightly exceeding the disc; disc florets with cylindrical tubes.
Fruit: Achenes very smooth, pyramidal, acute, angular, not grooved, and truncate at apex.
Phenology: Flowers from April to June.
Habitat & elevation: Rocky and semi-arid places.
