• Life-form & habit: Perennial, woody-based subshrub, 50–100 cm tall.
• Leaves: Indivisible, oblong-linear to oval, serrulate, subobtuse, 2–10 × 1–4 mm; surface tomentose or glabrescent.
• Inflorescence & flowers: Capitula numerous, forming small corymbs 1–3 cm wide; peduncles absent or up to 6 mm long. Involucres oblong to broadly oval, 4–6 × 2.5–5 mm; bracts oblong, obtuse, tomentose. Ligules absent; disc florets 30–60.
• Fruit: Achenes oblong, glabrous, without pappus.
• Phenology: Flowers May–August.
• Habitat & elevation: Dry places, steppes, desert.
• Lebanese distribution: Hermel; sources of the Orontes (Nahr el-Assi); Ras Baalbeck; Ouadi el-Harir; Rachaya.
• Syrian distribution: Beqaa (Laboué, Ras Baalbeck, etc.), Damascus region, Palmyra, Chahba, Deraa, and other steppe and desert localities.
• Native range: Egypt, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon–Syria, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Sinai (POWO).
