Achillea filipendulina Lam.

Life-form & habit: Tall perennial herb, up to 1.5 m, with stout erect stems and a woody rhizome.
Leaves: Large, bipinnatisect, with lanceolate to oblong lobes; segments serrulate, giving the leaf a finely cut appearance.
Inflorescence & flowers: Broad, flat-topped corymbs composed of numerous small capitula; involucre campanulate, bracts scarious-margined; ligules bright yellow, conspicuous, giving the inflorescence a dense golden look.
Fruit: Achenes oblong, glabrous, lacking pappus.
Phenology: Flowers June–August.
Habitat & elevation: Steppes and dry montane slopes.
Lebanese distribution: Recorded by Mouterde in the Anti-Lebanon (Ouadi el-Qarn), central Beqaa (Baalbeck region), and higher zones of Mount Lebanon.
Native range: Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, Lebanon–Syria, North Caucasus, Pakistan, Tadzhikistan, Transcaucasus, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan (POWO).
Introduced into: Belgium, California, Czechia-Slovakia, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Michigan, New Mexico, New York, Ontario, Poland, Romania, Sardegna, Spain, Ukraine, Utah, Vermont (POWO).
