• Life-form & habit: Perennial, 12–40 cm tall. Stems erect, greyish-pubescent to lanate.
• Leaves: Basal leaves 3–10 × 1–3 cm, bipinnatisect, pubescent-lanate, with linear-lanceolate segments; petiole 1–4 cm. Cauline leaves smaller, pinnatisect, 2–3 × 1–1.5 cm.
• Inflorescence & flowers: Corymbs 2–6 cm across, with 50–150 capitula. Capitula ovoid to oblong, 3–3.5 × 2–2.5 mm. Bracts pubescent, lanceolate to lanceolate-oblong, acute or obtuse, with narrowly scarious-brownish margins. Ligules 4–6, white. Disk flowers 5–15 per capitulum.
• Fruits: Achenes oblong, glabrous, compressed, without pappus.
• Phenology: Flowers June–August.
• Habitat & elevation: Subalpine zone.
• Lebanese distribution: Ain Sa’adé, Ehden, Haaret Beit Raad, Ain Saoua‘ir, Cedars of Bsharré, Jabal Barouk, Jabal Kneissé, south of Laqlouq, Jabal Sannine, Col de Zahlé.
• Native range: Albania, Austria, Bulgaria, France, Italy, NW Balkan Peninsula, Ukraine (POWO).
• Introduced into: Great Britain (POWO).
